Venice is a very unique experience! There are no cars in Venice so people use boats to get around. The streets would not be big enough to fit a car. Sometimes we could barely fit with our luggage! There are some streets that you can walk on and some streets are not streets at all–they are waterways and you ride boats on them. You can ride a gondola to get around. Five people can fit into a gondola so that means our family could not go all together. The kids went in one boat and mom and dad went in another boat. A gondolier drove the boat for us. He stood up and paddled the boat. The ride was 30 minutes long and it went through lots of waterways. When we were going through a very narrow place this big boat was going the opposite way as us. It had to back up and turn a little bit so that our gondola could get through. I liked the gondola because we went under a lot of bridges. The funny thing was every single time we went under a bridge the people on the bridges kept taking photos of us. I felt like a famous person!

Wow Ellie! What a special time you had in Venice! I really like your detailed descriptions of what it was like there, walking along the narrow streets and walkways with your luggage, and riding in the gondola with your brothers and sisters! How fun that you had your own gondola, and Mom and Dad had their own also! So happy you were all able to share this experience! Love you so much, Minnah & Boppa.
